Presenting dissertation findings at the American Journalism Historians Association in 2009 as a finalist for the Margaret A. Blanchard Prize for the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation. Birmingham, Alabama.

Recipient of a 2012 Fulbright Hayes Grant through the U.S. Consulate-General in Hyderabad, India (Award #: S-IN650-12-GR-174 – Forging a Strategic Partnership, Empowering People and Encouraging Good Governance.) From the U.S. Consulate-General in Hyderabad, India – $9,000. Dr. Yusuf Kalyango, Principal Investigator. The themes of the sponsored five-day training workshops in Tirupati and Hyderabad were: 1). Journalism in a Changing Media Landscape; 2). One-Day International Symposium on Multimedia Technologies; 3) Computer-Assisted Reporting.

$3,000 – Ohio University Honors Tutorial Research Apprenticeship, 2010. Funding for undergraduate apprentice for research project on intersection of race and libel.

$25,000 – Ohio University new faculty research grant, 2008. This is a three-year start-up grant for general research.

$800 – University of Missouri, dissertation travel grant, 2007.

$2,000 – Masters thesis research grant, the Newspaper Association of America, 1999.
